College just sent me a text telling me that I don't have class tomorrow because it's going to snow in Louisiana! God bless no one in the south being able to drive in the snow! Too bad I don't have a RWD car to go do snow donuts in. :(

Off topic question: Are there any plans for the next As The Opposite Locks episode?

My girlfriend's school almost didn't. They waited until 10PM when it was already bad out to close it for the following day.

I played football for LSU during The 2001 and 2002 seasons. I remember on my drive back to Baton Rouge from New Orleans after the 2002 sugar bowl, noticing it had started snowing somewhere around Laplace. Unfortunately, I didn't notice this until I had hit a bridge at interstate speed and spun out for a very long time in my Dodge Dakota with a limited-slip differential. It was my first time driving in snow, and before I hit the bridge I was thinking to myself, "man, it's getting really sandy around here." I managed to get myself fairly stuck several more times that night. It was totally worth it.
There was something so poetic about Louisiana getting snowed on after LSU won the Super Bowl. I've always enjoyed the irony.

I don't know when. I really enjoyed doing the pilot episode however I decided to start doing it right as school was starting back, I was getting into a new relationship after not dating for almost a year, I was also finishing up secret senna stuff, and I (being unemployed) was paying about $30 a month for Hulu, netflix, and my podbean (the hosting service) account. I also ended up going through some serious issues with my family life right after the recording of that episode that I would rather not get into that left me in a serious funk.
I would love to start doing it again but at the current moment I don't think that I could do episodes and have them as good as I would like. The problem with making a podcast is that there is a TON of editing involved and if you include the actual recording it takes upwards of about 8 hours to get an episode out. I would love to start it back up again when I get into the rhythm of things. However I will say that if I do decide to pick the podcast back up that I WILL NOT DO SECRET SENNA AT THE SAME TIME!

No hurry, start doing them when you feel the time is right. I feel you knowing from personal experience how things can go to shit with family life very quickly even without ones own fault, I hope that things are looking brighter for you now or in near future. Anyway the first episode was great and I think that the podcast could be great addition to Oppo community.

I'm going to get really nerdy on you because I am a die hard LSU fan so sorry for that. But what position did you play? What did you think about playing under Saban? I'm jealous you got to be on the same team as one of the greatest LSU receivers ever.

I played offensive tackle, ended up breaking a few vertebrate my back in my second season which convinced me to stop playing. Saban was an intriguing figure, but fairly aloof. I can't say I interacted with him interpersonally all that much. Only a handful of players really ever got to, and I was like 4 rungs down the talent ladder from those guys. He knows the game, it's a family business for him. Something about that over-familiarity with the game, though, made him sort of detached from the passion of the game. It makes him a tactical god, but not all that inspiring of a figure to play for.
Guys like Josh Reed made that experience worth it. Always a smile on the guy's face and an all around nice guy. I was a few years behind him, but when I got there my freshman year he was one of the couple older guys that really took the time to make sure you were OK.
It was a great experience, even with the broken back. I can't imagine a team having a better fan base. I was third string, by no means a standout, and it felt like everywhere I went in Southeast LA someone knew who I was by name, it was crazy. I grew up in Florida, and only started playing football my senior year of high school, so getting to experience what it meant to be a Tiger, not having any idea what it was going into the experience, it was an extremely fun thing to live through.

That is such a cool thing to hear about. Sorry about your broken back as well. Your description of Saban is pretty much what I have always heard about him. I'm trying to remember the dates, but were you on the team when they lost to UAB (damnit Josh Booty)? Also Rohan Davey was one of my favorite players to watch sling the ball at LSU, I wish I was older then to appreciate him.

No, UAB was 2000, but the wound was still fresh when I got there. Guys were still getting their nose rubbed in it.
Rohan was the shit. SO MANY 4 and 500 yard games under that guy's belt. I was really surprised he didn't have more of an impact in the NFL. Matt Mauck, who replaced him, was also fantastic. He was MUCH older than the rest of us, having played in the MLB for a while. No shit: I once watched that dude drink a gallon of milk in 10 minutes, hold it down, and then party the rest of the night.

That is so awesome. And obviously Mauck was one of my favorites since he hoisted up the trophy in 2003.
